Yesterday=Crazy!
Posted on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
Today was a good day. Dave called and asked me how my day was going and I said “very laid back”. Good thing since yesterday was a day I will won’t forget anytime soon.
The quick version of my very long and crazy day is as follows. Get on board a plane from Syracuse to Ohio at 2:35pm. Quick one hour flight, kids did okay. Go to get on board the next flight from Ohio to Dallas at 4:00pm, and David trips when walking into airplane by falling right into the jet way door – gets a perfect gash in the middle of his forehead. Stands up, blood pouring down his face (I had no idea head wounds produce so much blood!) and I cry for someone to help us, along with crying since this really just happened in Ohio when I am by myself? The airport paramedics come, take us to the local ER. Where we wait for one hour, and my cell phone doesn’t have reception (Thank you AT&T). This nice nurse GIVES me her cell phone to use so I can call Dave. He calls the airlines and gets us a flight out a 7:05pm. In the meantime David says “my head is all better, lets go to Texas now” (about 20 times). He ends up getting 4 stitches, and has a horrible experience getting them put in. Kicking, screaming, it takes 3 of us to hold him down and he still at times was moving everywhere.
We rush out of the hospital to catch a cab at 7:00pm to make our 7:05 flight
haha. They hold the plane for us, we rush through security, get 2 carts to rush us through the airport and then on the plane to Chicago we go. We then finally hop on our last flight to Dallas and get in at 11:30pm (both kids slept the whole flight!!!!). Our bags don’t make it with us, but at last we get home a little after midnight.
David is doing good today. He talks often about it and tonight at swim lesson, did not want to get his head wet. Poor guy! He was a trouper though, as was Reagan. She didn’t make a peep in the hospital and poor girl there was no absolutely no where for her to sit or go! They both did fabulous especially since I was obviously overwhelmed and I’m sure showed it!
I’m not sure I’ll be flying anytime soon by myself again? I think I need at least a month to recover from this trip
And I’ll be praying hard that next time I need a ambulance, that it would please be closer to my house (1st ride was in Syracuse, now the 2nd in Ohio)! Also when you see a mom with 2 kids on the plane by herself, offer to help! It’s amazing to me those who don’t, they might say “wow you got your hands full” or “are you by yourself, God bless you” then don’t offer to lend a hand? It’s all just Bizarre to me!
Here is the brave guy in the hospital before the stitches. Notice how he is now off the bed, sitting in the stroller. I think he thought this might just get him back to Texas sooner
I’ll try to take a picture of his head now, he just took off the bandage tonight for swim, but put another one on for bed.

So thankful that David is okay. What a scary experience! And lets pray that you never need an ambulance AGAIN!!
That sounds awful!! I’m l glad to hear David is okay and that you made it home.
holy cow! he looks like a little trooper in that pic. So cute he was just ready to go home. Yikes! Glad everything is ok now & you’re home safe & sound
Awww! Is it bad to say he looks cute in that pic? What a good boy. Crazy. You’re supermom for getting through all that and home. We miss you around here. Can’t you come visit soon?
He does look so cute in that picture. You are a great mom Jenn!!
You are a super hero Jenn! First of all I was never brave enough to travel alone with Two, yes Two, little ones. Please get some rest and give David’s boo-boo a kiss for Grammy. XO!
King – you are my idol. We both have scares on our foreheads.
Jenn – what can I say but you are ONE GREAT MOM!!!
David – bring them back soon. Spring/summer is golf weather and I know your father-in-law will give you strokes.
Always in my prayers……Johnny A.
I will take your advice and offer to help a mommy when she looks like she needs help!
